U-3 Bermuda
Originally selected from test plots in Georgia USA, U-3 Bermuda is the most popular bermuda sod sold in Oklahoma and throughout the American Southwest. It's often used for commercial and residential lawns, on roadsides, athletic fields, and golf courses due to it's fine leaf texture, cold tolerance, and durability.
This variety is no longer certifiable.

Temperature Tolerance
The ideal grass for the varying temperatures of the American Southwest.
- More cold-tolerant than most types of bermuda
- Excellent heat-tolerance
Water Requirements
U-3, if well established, will tolerate long periods of drought but should be kept moist during sustained periods of extreme cold.
- Tolerates sustained droughts
- Responds well to irrigation in dry conditions
Shade Tolerance
U-3 requires lots of sunlight and is not ideal for shady areas and should be used in open areas where it will be exposed to the sun throughout the day.
- High light requirement
- Will not survive in shade
