Sod Farming Experts Since 1979

Founded in 1979 by brothers Bill & Don Nelson, Chickasha Sod & Grass Farm was the first commercial sod farm in Southwest Oklahoma. Our first field of Tiff 419 froze out, so Bill went to Northcutt Nursery and purchased U-3 Sprigs. It was rough going in the beginning, selling maybe a truckload of sod in one week, and then when the sod was sold, they had to hand stack it on a semi because we didn’t have a forklift. Things have come a long way for our farm and for the sod industry as a whole since that time.

In 2007 Oscar Nelson quit engineering to return to the farm and began installing the sod for our customers. In 2014 he bought out the farm from Bill and Don and now manages the farm.

Since the farm’s inception, we have always strived to provide quality turf at a reasonable price. We work for homeowners, landscapers, and contractors.
